WINE

The Casale del Giglio Winery.

Visit independently Beachhead Museum situated in the beautiful Villa Adele, which originates from the 17th century and which contains also an archeological museum, in fact this region hosts an incredible amount of archeological artifacts due to the Etruscan population which used to live here before the Romans. The museum shows a large number of photographs of the amphibian operation and the following supply and reinforcements of the troops and it also hosts a large number of uniforms and personal items that have been donated by veteran organisations.

Enjoy independent time to explore Anzio and then be welcome at Casale Del Giglio winery situated in the Agro Pontino Valley and pioneers of critically acclaimed wines from Lazio and where, in the sixties, almost 60 different experimental varietals were planted, including Syrah, Petit Verdot, Sauvignon, Viognier and Petit Manseng. It was a complex and risky challenge that paid off well, and quickly. Among the red varietals, Syrah and Petit Verdot, and the white ones, Sauvignon, Viognier and Petit Manseng, adapted to the soils so well that they led to various single-variety labels and blends.

Enjoy a five-wine tasting light lunch paired by a selection of local products such as home-made bread “casereccio” Bassiano ham, Amatrice Pecorino and sheep Caciotta cheese.

Following the winery tour including Natural Oasis, a pond that is filled up by a natural spring that runs through the estate and is surrounded by a forest of trees that are native to the Maquis of the Mediterranean and the archeological artifacts discovered among the vineyards. Arrive at your Rome hotel in the afternoon.
